Contents of the Weaker Vessel

Vessel Publishing

For part of our title we borrowed the inspired term weaker vessel (which Peter used in First Peter 3:7 to describe a woman) to signify that every aspect of this publication is by, for, and about women. Throughout the scriptures, the term vessel is used as a metaphor which compares the human being to a container (Acts 9:15; 1 Thes. 4:4; 2 Tim. 2:21; Rom. 9:22, 23), and a container is designed for the sole purpose of holding something—contents.

According to The American Heritage Dictionary, the word content has two meanings: one refers to the meaning or significance of a literary or artistic work, the other refers to something contained in a receptacle. Both of these definitions suit our purpose. We are concerned with the literary and artistic content of our publication and the spiritual content of our vessels. Hopefully the title Contents of the Weaker Vessel describes and represents this concern.
